iportal Mobile / tablet app

PROJECT Overview

I drove the end-to-end user experience and visual design for world bank internal portal. Because of the proprietary nature of this project, I will present just enough information to illustrate my design process.

Design brief and requirements

I got the core set of requirements from product and stake holders, as this was huge project, as a design lead i sat down with product team and set a multiple milestones of the project and deliver accordingly. Some of the key aspects at this stage was to

  • Setting expectations with stake holders
  • Understanding the roles across investment operations
  • Reached out to each and every stake holder who will be using the application
  • Captured the day to day activities

USER RESEARCH

Role / Contextual Enquiry

As iportal is being widely used across the board of this financial client, i have conducted Contextual Inquiries with every single role who would be using this application and get the feedback , pain points about the current application and ability to improve the application.

FINDINGS

After a through research i have developed a role matrix which helped me in laying out the structure for the project.

PERSONA's

During this stage the team had personal interviews with 8-10 representatives of each group and validated the pain points highlighted by the Oliver Wyman study. Some additional information was also gathered wrt the activities that respective users undertook when interaction with various IT systems.

Task Flows

By analyzing personas and pain points i came with feature set where must have, good to have features were captured. Product, Stake holders, business, were pitched in their ideas and finalized set of requirements in improving the application.

Wireframes

As a UX team we work across 8 teams helping build the designs ,with me being Onsite lead and rest of 3 in offshore. Once the task flows and user stories are detailed we dive into creating  wireframes where i was responsible to lead and allocate the work among team based on the business and sprint priorities. As i continue working on wireframes will review the work shared by rest of the team and provide feedback and continue the same process until expected results are achieved.

  • Redesigned the screens in a way that it meets more user needs
  • Allowed lot of customization which helps users to meet their day to day work activities
  • After redesigning updated the prototype and started testing again which was really successful
  • Started working on visual design
  • Do the final usability testing on the final mockups
